I see that you said the Shaw Brothers movies are going going gone, but I have been slowly collecting them here in Taipei for a year or more now. They released a massive amount of them a while back and charged $299nt for each. They didn't sell well (from what I can tell, and the reaction to a foreigner buying them)so now you can get most titles for about $100nt ($3US). If I had seen the voting for this poll earlier I Would have had a massive list of Shaw films (after figuring out which are from the 80's). I'm addicted to buying them, but I think the older they are, the more I like them. Favorites so far are The Oily Maniac and Angel with the Iron Fists. You can even get them on VCD for about $40nt if you can't find the DVDs here.

@Jimaur: True, Rigthing wrong and Yes madam ranked low at this poll. Those movies are heavy in martial art action that why we love HK movies at 80's.

Sigh, Iceman cometh also ranked low at this poll. I guess Yuen Biao isn't popular in this site.

Hi Lisa, this is the Internet so genre films will usually beat everything else in a popular vote. Sadly, the Hong Kong Film Critics Society did not accept my invitation to vote in this poll.

And Sanney, it's easy to get PEOPLE'S HERO on DVD. The Shaw Brothers movies, however, are going, going and soon gone.

By the Red Cloak of Cao Cao, had I known that KIDS FROM SHAOLIN qualified as a HK film, it would have been in my top 10 -- probably somewhere in between a four and a nine.

I'd love to get my hands on PEOPLE'S HERO (who wouldn't want to see a HK version of DOG DAY AFTERNOON?) but it's probably out of print -- no?

Wow Love in a Fallen City was only #70? Ranking below Yes Madam?
Can hardly wait for the next installments of the list.
Thanks for collating our responses!

The only part of The Seventh Curse I liked was how awesome Chin Siu-Ho was during the hostage scene at the beginning. I wish I were as cool as him.

None of my top 20 (or 30) made it into this tier. Quite a few films that I haven't seen before...gonna have to get my 2nd hand hunting sense out and head to the street market in Shum Shui Po to rectify this.
