Good eyes Teehees :)
But I though the word Tong refered to his name Tong Pak Fu more than the Tang dynasty, and Flirting Tong would be perfect for his nick name :)
Anyway it's still one of my top ten movies.

Am I the only person in the world who caught that the "FlirtOng" misspelling in "Flirtong Scholar" was completely intentional? That was not a mistaken exercise in Chinglish. Think about the historical period the movie was set in.

I gotta agree that BURNING PARADISE needs more love. Maybe if it had any stars in it someone might pick it up for a decent DVD release.

I imagine ON THE RUN must have flopped when it was released. It always seems the case in Hong Kong that movies that are dark and atypical are usually failures, but become well-regarded overseas much later on.

I expected FULL CONTACT to place higher. It's awesome, sleazy fun.

I had to laugh at Kozo's line about awful Western actors. It's something that never fails to amuse and bemuse me. Are there truly no competent western actors in any Asian nation?

I know in Hong Kong they tend to literally drag in foreigners from the streets to be in these movies, but even in Korea, with super-talented directors and big budgets, they can't find a single wide-eye who can deliver a decent performance.

Thanks for letting me know. Brain fart. It happens.

And BURNING PARADISE suffers from lack of distribution on DVD. I remember Diskotek had rights to it a while ago, but I'm not sure if that's still happening.

It’s a bit sad to see films like NEW DRAGON INN, THE BLADE, THE BRIDE WITH WHITE HAIR placed so high without BURNING PARADISE anywhere around.

ps. there is a mistake in SHE'S A WOMAN... description, Rose is played by Carina Lau, not Anita Mui :)
