Kozo, your SWORDSMAN II remake concept is utterly brilliant (Tilda Swinton... yes). Contact Potter or Almodovar immediately.

Of course, I'd love to see a straight-up action blockbuster version with, say, Will Smith as the hero and Julia Roberts as the transsexual eunuch warrior character. Can you imagine how that would go down with the American mass audience? And yet the HK audience ate it up. One reason why that movie is one of my "Quintessence of HK Cinema" examples (and #7 on my list).

2046: 1 first place vote + No. 2 on my list = 30% of its points come from two voters. "Not everyone’s cup of tea" is an understatement :)

I would have put EASTERN CONCORDS much higher.

Sammo is my favourite martial arts choreographer/director ever. His style is so fast and brutal and that movie has some truly bruising sequences.

And I consider KING OF COMEDY to be Chow's bittersweet masterpiece. And it absolutely goes down in history as having possibly the most uncomfortable few seconds of screen time in the history of cinema.

You know what I'm talking about... Naked boy + stick.

It's fun to track where films you voted for end up.

"Running on Karma" is depressingly low, thankfully Throwdown will be higher.

I never understood complains that "2046 is the same as ITMFL but only a bit different" 1. You can say it about any pair of WKW's films. 2. 2046's only fault is that it was filmed later. It's deeper, somewhat different not only technically (within the genre and themes), more balanced and touching than "In the Mood..". Which I always found a bit cold, irritating and detached. See, if you add robots everything makes more sense.

I'm glad to see Cecilia Cheung showing up here and there (as she was one of the most compelling actresses of the early Aughts) and that Sammo is also having his ponderous presence felt. I think 2046 should rank much higher, but I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea. Thanks again, Kozo, for all your dedication.

Haha, I knew 2046 will finish just outside top 50, and here it is on spot 51 :)

I'm a bit surprised by such low place of CITY ON FIRE, it deserves a place next to best John Woo films, which I'm sure will finish somewhere in top 20 (and THE KILLER will be #1 I think). I thought DRUNKEN MASTER will end up higher too, as it's one of best-known JC flicks.

Plenty of Johnnie To (again), yet still no sign of his much underrated masterpiece THROW DOWN, hopefully it appears somewhere on the list.
