I'm not aware of anyone actually hating it for the reasons I mentioned, though comments about Johnnie To "wasting his time" are quite common when he announces non-crime movies. For the LOVE IN A PUFF movies, I disagree, however. South Korea kind of took Hong Kong's place in terms of most films from the most films watched from the one country over the decade. Cook Up a Storm is still an accidental comedy masterpiece. The LOVE IN/OFF A/THE PUFF/BUFF/CUFF trilogy probably won’t be rewatched for years to come because the two leads are now staunch PRC worshippers.
