Review
by Kozo:
This cop actioner from director Benny Chan (The Magic Crane, Happy Hour) delivers in spades. Maverick cop Lau Ching-Wan clocks a superior officer after a botched sting and he ends up being demoted to the emergency unit. He finds himself in charge of a small team, consisting of a by-the-book Jordan Chan Siu-Chun, Cheung Tat-Ming, the ubquitous Spencer Lam Seung-Yi, and the cute Theresa Lee. Francis Ng plays it straight as Lau’s old partner. Meanwhile, bad guys Yu Rong-Guang and Anthony Wong hatch a clever scheme to lift some cash right from under Interpol's noses.
Very fast-paced and well shot, the film provides crackling, energetic action sequences along with likable characters and excellent acting - all within the framework of your typical commercial action picture. Ma Yuk-Sing's action almost reaches cartoony proportions, but the action and energy prove infectious. Lau Ching-Wan provides his customary charisma, and Jordan Chan handles his stiff character with dignity. This is a supremely entertaining motion picture and director Benny Chan and company should be lauded for their efforts. (Kozo 1996)
