Review
by Kozo:
This crime caper from D&B Studios is a HK version of The Thomas Crown Affair starring Michelle Yeoh as a rich businesswoman who concocts elaborate heists simply for the fun of it. She rips of the HK Jockey Club, setting amoral police captain Kent Cheng on her tail. Following is George Lam as an insurance investigator, who finds himself attracted to the wily and winsome Yeoh.
This film proves pretty entertaining in the first half as we witness the heist. However, after the initial investigation begins, the film snowballs downhill underneath large implausibilites and tedious interludes. Eventually, Michelle turns out to be a “good” thief, which doesn’t really do much for the film. Only for the diehard Michelle Yeoh fan or the Thomas Crown completist. (Kozo 1997)
