Review
by Kozo:

Wong Jing’s latest New Year’s Comedy is crap, but good for a few laughs between all the groans. Game show host Nat Chan Bak-Cheung is the God of Lucky Fortune, who travels to earth to find the reincarnated Angel Nine (Christy Chung), who was banished for loving another immortal. However, her heavenly love Michael Wong has been reincarnated too, as a swishy rock star. Helping Chan is Anita Yuen as a super massage woman (?).

It goes without saying: hijinks ensue. The "comedy" in this ninety-minute exercise in inconsequence is dumb, not to mention sophomoric, but with Wong Jing that’s a given. It’s all rather harmless, but the excessive comedy becomes very tiring very fast. Wong Jing more or less assaults you with his brand of obnoxious comedy. What that means to somebody is a person-by-person thing, but it could prove fatal to some. And besides, any film that paints "Ah Leck" as being even remotely desirable has got something seriously wrong with it.

Helping matters some are tons of star cameos and references, including plenty that may fly by most people. Still, it's all for naught; this is a tiresome comedy which is only recommended for those with time to kill. The film’s only saving grace: Francis Ng, returning as Ugly Kwan from the Young and Dangerous series. His welcome cameo manages to bring some spark to the proceedings. (Kozo 1996)
