Review
by Kozo:
Ultra-cheap horror quickie from Wong Jing's factory that would be a serviceable diversion if it were made in 1989. Sadly, it isn't 1989 anymore. Anthony Wong and Gigi Lai are a couple who move into mom's home - except the house is haunted. Apparently, the house was built on the "Gateway to Hell", which means lots of spirits wander through there every day. That isn't to mention the usual evil spirits, who do things like kill neighbors, make prank phone calls, and generally make life unpleasant.      Overall this is typical horror stuff which succeeds at being mildly diverting. The ins and outs of the horrific events are explained matter-of-factly, and the atmosphere is creepy enough - when it isn't noticeably cheap. Boring interludes punctuate the proceedings, which doesn't help much. At the very least, this is a nifty time killer for fans of Anthony Wong or Gigi Lai. Otherwise there's nothing much here to write home about. (Kozo 1998)
