Review
by Kozo:
The latest in the Ring-inspired Hong Kong horror wave is this quickie about a magic mirror that seems to induce evil. Three separate stories go bad as the presence of said evil mirror seem to sour things—not that the situations were all rosy anyway. Basically, the mirror only seems indirectly involved, which means blame get tossed around and nobody chucks the mirror like they probably should.
The actors are all uniformly uninteresting, until the hot young stars arrive, and they’re all cute but weightless. Raymond Wong has produced some of Hong Kong's biggest hits, but you wouldn't know it from this film. As far as the hope of HK Cinema is concerned, young Nicholas Tse continues to demonstrate some charisma, but this movie won't help him much. Pretty young things Lillian Ho and Ruby Lin satisfy their status as pretty young things, but they do little else. Law Lan appears in her umpteenth horror movie. Hey, isn't there something better on TV? (Kozo 1999)
