Review
by Kozo:
First of all: this movie has nothing to do with the famed virtual pet. Instead, it’s the latest “date”  horror flick from Wellson Chin, the mastermind behind Thou Shalt Not Swear and The Day that Doesn’t Exist. The literal Cantonese title for the film translates into English as April 4th. Not surprisingly, that's the featured day of darkness in this horror exercise. All of the evil surrounds a little girl (Wong Man-Yi) who was witness to her parents’ murder as well as numerous other deaths. Dayo Wong is the cop who’s investigating the murders, and Ruby Wong is his social worker girlfriend who gets involved with the little girl. Big surprise: it turns out that something about this little tyke isn't all that nice and it’s offing people left and right. Figuring in is horror staple Law Lan, who’s on hand to try to take out the kid herself. This installment is low on the comedy, but heavy on the dark stuff. There isn’t much to get excited about in this film, but the creepy handling makes this a decent watch. Just don’t expect The Shining. (Kozo 1997)
